Veolia - Fruit Tree Planting

6 March 2024

On Wednesday 6th March, we hosted visitors from the Veolia Sustainable Schools team to provide our school with our very own orchard. Miss Townsend, our HLTA and Horticultural Club leader had organised for 3 apple trees & 2 pear trees to be donated as part of Veolia's Schools Orchard programme. 5 students from Y7-9 each dug and planted their own fruit tree, ably assisted by Councillor Will Rowlands. The students were able to explain the benefits of fruit trees for both local areas and on a wider, global scale as a way of combating climate change.

The fruit trees will hopefully be providing their first fruit in about 3 years time and we look forward to our first home-grown apple pie!
