Welcome from the Headteacher
I am proud to be returning to the school where my teaching career began and to lead Kemnal Technology College as Executive Headteacher. With a strong track record as Headteacher over the last 13 years and during this time having led a school to outstanding, I will be working with 1st Deputy Headteacher Emma Wride and Deputy Headteacher Tanya Cornish, who have both previously worked in another successful TKAT school.
At the heart of everything we do are our students. Our curriculum is student-centred and we aim for their education to be inspiring, stimulating and challenging. Our staff are appointed for their passion, their enthusiasm and their imagination in communicating with children to ensure that every single child in their classes is engaged, excited and challenged by the learning experience at all times.
Our vision is to empower students so that they are able to take control of their own future and have enhanced life chances as a result of learning with us.
It is an exciting time to be part of Kemnal Technology College as we will be welcoming girls through our doors for the very first time as the college moves to co-educational in September 2019. We are about to start the work to refurbish the block in which the new year 7 cohort will largely be based as they join our school community. Whilst the original 1930s school building with its iconic grade II listed critical window frontage doesn’t change, a programme to refurbish and upgrade the interior began last Summer with a large scale refurbishment of our science labs and sports hall and continues this year.
However, the building changes it is the staff and students within it which make the college the flourishing and vibrant school community it is. This is illustrated by a range of activities and achievements. The College continues to develop links externally and our sports leaders visit and lead sessions at a number of local primary schools. We have developed a partnership with Sidcup Rugby football club and through the RFU students have recently been part of the Six Nations matches taking place at Twickenham.
More details of the many and varied activities taking place at the college can be found on our website www.ktc-tkat.org, follow us on Twitter @KemnalTC.
