Year 7 Bikeability

Dear Parent / Guardian,

The Road Safety Team at the London Borough of Bromley has provisionally booked Cycle Training for students at Kemnal Technology College during the week commencing 20th February 2017.

Please note your child must be able to ride a bicycle in order to take part.

Bikeability courses are designed to train people to cycle on the road safely and with confidence, so that they can go on to make independent journeys.

We are offering:

Bikeability Level 1 & 2 Course: Basic bike skills including signalling & emergency stops in a traffic free environment (level 1), followed by on-road experience on quiet local roads (level 2). This is a great confidence builder for any cyclist and is open to anyone who has not previously achieved Levels 1 & 2 (you must pass level 1 to go onto level 2).

Bikeability Level 3 Course: On busier roads, using roundabouts, traffic lights and learning to plan trips to help you make independent journeys. You must have passed Levels 1 & 2 to take part in this course.

If your Child’s application is successful you will be notified of the exact day of their course after the closing date.

A risk assessment has been made and fluorescent tabards will be worn by all cyclists. Children are to wear clothing suitable for cycling and the weather and must wear a helmet. Badges will be awarded to those that reach the required Bikeability standard.

Spaces are limited and allocated on a first come first serve basis. For a course outline and to apply for a place on a course please visit:
