Economics A-Level at Kemnal is transitioning from the OCR modular specification to the new linear specification offered by Edexcel. Year 13 students are completing their final year of the OCR course, covering the micro unit, Transport Economics, and the macro unit, The Global Economy. These are assessed by two exams, each two hours in length.
Year 12 students are now studying the Edexcel linear two-year course (9ECO). This comprises four units:
- Theme 1: Introduction to markets and market failure
- Theme 2: The UK economy – performance and policies
- Theme 3: Business behaviour and the labour market
- Theme 4: A global perspective
These are assessed at the end of Year 13 by three, two-hour examinations:
