Key Stage 4
Students have a one-hour lesson each week. During the course of a year students will have the opportunity to participate in number of different sporting activities. During years 10 and 11, physical education lessons focus on learning within a competitive environment. The pupils also experience the different roles of the performer, captain, coach and official within these activities.
During Key Stage 4, the following activities are offered: football, rugby, basketball, table tennis, weight-training, badminton, cricket, volleyball, softball and athletics.
Students, who select GCSE P.E, will have two additional, one-hour lessons of physical education each week. These lessons will be predominately theoretical lessons, which will be classroom-based. There will be occasionally drill-based practical lessons, which give the students the opportunity to further develop their individual skill, knowledge and understanding of different tactics and team-play, in addition to increasing their knowledge of the rules.
