BTEC Performing Arts Edexcel  

This course is equivalent to 1.5 A Levels

This course develops skills in acting, dancing and singing.

Learners will take a variety of options in order to complete their chosen qualification. Many of the units are project led. This gives the learners the opportunity of developing skills and techniques in relation to a performance or showing.   The units you will be completing over the two year course are:

  • Unit 1 ‐ Investigating Practitioner works
  • Unit 7 ‐ Performing to an Audience
  • Unit 3 ‐ Performing Arts Business
  • Unit 9 ‐ Devising Plays  
  • Unit 10 ‐ Theatre in Education   
  • Unit 14 ‐ Musical Theatre Performance
  • Unit 17 ‐ Developing Voice for the Actor
  • Unit 18 ‐ Auditions for Actors
  • Unit 23 ‐ Film and TV Acting 

Most assignments are a mixture of practical and written work.  

You will prepare performance showcases and productions demonstrating the skills you have acquired. You will build portfolios of work that provide evidence of your understanding for assessment.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS As well as academic entry requirements, students will benefit from having knowledge of at least two theatre Practioners and a love of the theatre.

Which career path could this help me with? Performing Arts opens up a wide range of potential careers. These include going into the entertainment industry, being a professional performer, a teacher, a training provider or a drama therapist. It can also build skills that are required for a wide range of areas from Law to Human Resources.
