Our Year 10 students are following the WJEC Drama GCSE Specification, and our Year 11 students are following the Edexcel Drama GCSE Sepcification.

HALF TERM
ONE

EXPLORATIVE TECHNIQUES –
Still Image, Thought-tracking, Narrating, Hot-seating, Role-play, Cross-cutting, Forum theatre, Marking the moment.
Learning and recapping the dramatic skills needed for Paper One study.

HALF TERM
TWO

THE DRAMA MEDIUM/SEMIOTICS -
Costume, masks, make-up, sound, music, lighting, space and levels, set, props, movement, mime, gesture, voice, language.
Experiencing the various ways of creating a message for an audience.

HALF TERM           THREE

THE ELEMENTS OF DRAMA –
Action, plot, content, forms, climax, anti-climax, rhythm, pace, tempo, contrasts, characterisation, conventions, symbols.
Discovering the elements which create mood and atmosphere on stage.

HALF TERM
FOUR

DRAMA TEXTS  -
Poetry, photographs, pictures, object d’art, music, play scripts, live theatre performances, television, film, newspaper articles, extracts from literature.
Creating dramatic responses from a variety of stimulus material.

HALF TERM
FIVE

PAPER ONE, UNIT ONE –

Research and preparation around a theme.
6 assessed lessons using each of the elements studied over half terms 1 – 4.
Performance of work.

HALF TERM
SIX

PORTFOLIO AND EVALUATION –

Completion of assessed work for Unit One.
Portfolio and 1000 word essay.

Research and preparation around a theme.
